Lee Roy Selmon has a history that combines family scholarship football and volunteering for the community. Selmon is the youngest of children from Lucious Selmon and Jessie Selmon. They had him raised on their farm in Eufala. Two football. He is one of three brothers who played for Oklahoma. The three brothers were all All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy is the winner of both Outland Awards and Lombardi Awards. He was one of the top linemen in the entire nation. For three seasons as a starter Oklahoma was 32-1-1 and also won two championships at the national level. Third scholarship he was named an National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon graduated with a degree from the university of California, Berkeley. Lee Roy spent ten hours a week on volunteer work during his college years. After college, he moved in Tampa and played for nine years with the Buccaneers. He was an All-Pro three times. After that, he began his professional career. He was an Account Relation Officer at Tampa's First Florida Bank and worked with these groups: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute on the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce honored his name in 1982, as one of the top 10 young men in the US. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265 lbs in the time he played football at college. In 1975, he was on the team. group. Lee Roy joined the University of South Florida in 1993 as the assistant director of sports. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988 the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994, and then the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1989 The Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation presented their Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Jr. The award ceremony was conducted by Henry Bellmon govenor of Oklahoma.
