April Ross

April Ross is only one of the few beach volleyball players to have won medals at least twice in an Olympics. Alix Klineman is the newest Olympian and is set to join her in Tokyo. Ross is hoping to secure her Olympic the first medal of gold but she is also aiming to win greater. At 39, it could be her last chance to accomplish this. But she's still certain of taking top honors. Ross stated to NBC Boston that if they are at their absolute best or play a great game, she believes the team could win a gold medal. "I'm planning to test some luck." Ross is born in the year 1982. Costa Mesa California where she lived with her parents and her sister. Ross went on to play in many activities at Newport Harbor High School. As a prep-athlete, she also played indoor volleyball and track. When she played in the final sport she was clearly the standout. Based on her biography, she was a middle blocker and outside volleyball player throughout her time in high school. Her efforts were recognized when she was named 1999 Gatorade's Circle of Champions National Player of the Year. Also, she won the 2000 Orange County Athlete of the year award for volleyball. Ross and Klineman have been performing their roles since the year 2017. The reality is that Ross played a significant role on the beach volleyball circuit prior to the pair. She has won major competitions with different players. A couple of those is an icon of the world of volleyball. Jennifer Kessy coached her from 2007 to 2013. Kessy as well as Ross proved to be a formidable force in the world circuit, winning a 2009 world title together. They eventually won a silver medal in the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Misty May Treanor and Kerri Jennings, the legend team who was the winners of the 2012 Olympics in London, edged their opponents to claim the gold medal. Ross Jennings became Walsh Jennings partner in fate when Maytreanor retired. They both won bronze medals in beach volleyball for the Rio Olympics in the year 2016. Ross played for the Trojans of USC during her college days, prior to becoming a professional. The time she spent at USC was one to remember. In 2000, she was named Pac-10 Freshman as well as NCAA Freshman of the Year and an All-American. The Trojans were also able to make it to the Final Four. Her sophomore year was the time she was devastated by a personal loss but still managed to repeat as an All-American. Over her final two years within the team, she guided the Trojans towards the summit of the mountain netting successive national titles. In 2003-2004, Ross was named the best female volleyball player on the collegiate scene in America according to The Honda Sports Award. Ross studied at USC in International Relations. Unfortunately, Ross mom Margie was not able to witness her daughter ascend to the very top of beach volleyball stardom. Ross suffered the loss of the breast cancer that she battled in 2001. Ross was then a sophomore. She still holds her mother dear. Margie remains a constant source of inspiration for her, both at and off the beaches.
